Regular
(Swedish) Massage
This is the relaxing,
stress-reducing type of massage most people think about when they want a
massage. Swedish massage includes gliding, kneading, and striking strokes
as well as friction strokes, stretching, joint movements, gentle shaking, and rocking.
Generally, the massage is full-body and is very relaxing and has therapeutic
benefits. Swedish Massage technique can also focus on one area of the
body such as the back if that is the client's desire. Swedish Massage
sessions are typically 1 hour to 90 minutes, but can be shorter or longer as
desired. And, since our neuromuscular
training gives us a more in depth knowledge of the anatomy, our clients tell us
we provide a better Swedish massage!
Deep tissue
![]()
Get rid of your aches
and pains. Feel every sore, achy spot in your muscles slowly disappear with
this wonderful massage. Every specific muscle that needs attention is treated
with a powerful blend of deep tissue massage techniques that will leave you
feeling great. Deep Tissue Massage is a
term that gets thrown around quite a bit. Deep Tissue Massage is a
massage of the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissues of the
body. Deep Tissue Massage is used to provide a more therapeutic effect by
massaging all layers from superficial (closer to the skin) to deep (closer to
the bone). It relaxes the muscles, rids them of built up metabolic waste,
and helps release adhesions between muscles and connective tissues. It
can also be useful in preventing scar tissue build up from injuries to muscles
and connective tissues. NOTE: Deep Tissue Massage is the most
incorrectly performed type of massage in the world. Many massage
therapists believe (erroneously) that they must use extreme pressure to reach
deep tissues. Extreme pressure is not necessary and is likely result in
pain to the client. It also has the potential for causing injury.
If the pressure being used by the therapist is causing you severe pain, tell
them to use less or stop the massage.
Trigger point therapy
This type of therapy
targets the sore, irritable, tight spots in muscles called trigger
points. These trigger points can cause the whole muscle to be tight and
painful, or even restrict movement in a joint. They can also
"refer" pain to areas elsewhere in the body. In Trigger Point
Therapy the Massage Therapist carefully seeks out the trigger points in muscles
and uses specific compression techniques which allow the trigger points to
release. This technique is often employed as part of NMT or Deep Tissue
procedures and is a great method for relieving muscular pain and tension.
Precision
Neuromuscular Therapy
It
is a program of recovery from acute and chronic pain syndromes by utilizing
specific massage therapy, including the pressure of trigger points, to bring
about balance between the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. It
enhances the function of joints, muscles, and movement, and it releases
endorphins, the bodies’ own natural painkillers. You will leave with a
measurable difference feeling great.
1) While we can
provide a relaxing massage, our BUSINESS FOCUS is to alleviate your discomfort. Over 95% of our clients
have a specific area of concern. PNMT is problem solving the
particular muscles that are causing you pain.
2) We have done a more in-depth study of ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY. We know
which tight muscles to work on in order to help you.
3) Experience.
After thousands of success stories, we know what to do to help you.
4) PNMT is tailored
to your comfort level. We're careful to work only as deep as you wish. Your feedback
is always crucial so that we can stay in communication with you during therapy.
Blended Therapy (uses both deeper and relaxation
techniques)
This is a great
way combine the focus and specific relief of deep Neuromuscular techniques
with relaxation (Swedish) massage. We usually begin these sessions with the
deeper work to help your specific area of concern, and then finish with
relaxation techniques.
Sports Massage
Perform your very best,
whether you are a highly conditioned athlete or weekend warrior.
Sports Massage is generally used to help improve athletic performance.
Most often the Sports Massage is focused on the muscles and tissues
most often used in the athletes sport, i.e., runners focus on their legs and
hips. The techniques used include those used in Swedish Massage but may
be deeper and combined with other techniques like Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT),
Myofascial Release (MFR), Deep Tissue massage, and stretching (PNF and
MET). The Sports Massage session might also include Orthopedic
(Functional) Assessment. Exactly how it is done depends on whether the
massage is being used to prepare for an event, recover from an event (helping
with Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness), or assist in treating an injury.
Orthopedic Massage
Addresses chronic pain and sports injury conditions, with emphasis on restoring
pain free joint range of motion throughout the body and integrating complete
structural balance.
Goes far beyond the traditional clinical sports massage training by addressing
all the common medical and orthopedic conditions found in most clients. Pain is
released by combining sequences of functional assessment, Myofascial release,
neuromuscular therapy, fractioning, and stretching.
Cold
Therapy Cold therapy slows down the blood flow to an injury,
which cuts down the swelling and pain. Any cold treatment should be
used right after the injury. Cold
therapy is good for bumps sprains and strains that may occur with
sports and lifting.
Hot Therapy
Hot
therapy opens blood vessels, which increases blood flow, cuts
down pain and relaxes muscles. Hot therapy is good for
stiffness
and ongoing pain.
Your
Therapist will determine if these are needed.
Cupping Therapy
A
Chinese technique used for over 5,000 years similar to acupuncture, but without
the use of needles. It is a method of detoxification for smokers, cold and flu,
etc. and designed to cleanse the body of its impurities by placing cups
(suctioned) along the body's meridians.
Chinese
Cupping helps soften long-standing muscle tightness and adhesions. Cupping
helps loosen tight muscles where other massage techniques or even myofascial
release have not been enough. This method can help with treatment of chronic
injuries, which respond to treatment, but come back.
When
used to treat the neck and shoulders or lower back, "doing gentle
exercises whilst the cups are in place helps to release muscle tightness.”
Chinese Cupping can also bring blood back into an area which has become dry or
stagnant, such as occurs with tennis elbow. If bruising occurs this is usually
a good sign that the treatment will be effective. Bruising if it occurs is
superficial and fades in 3-7 days. Cupping can be used stand alone, or added to
many treatments. Not just for pain cupping also has some great cosmetic
uses. Cupping is very effective at helping your body with cellulite, stretch
marks, and scar reduction. The cups we use are medical grade glass. [1hr][1.5hr] Sessions
